Newlyweds' First Pad: The Plan

It's really exciting to finally have your first home, one of my dreams is to have my own home that I can design and decorate to my heart's content, and my pocket's downfall. Haha.. But really,  I daydream of my future house a lot, like crazy person A LOT. I'm just blessed that I could share some of my decorating energy to my clients' spaces. I'd go nuts if I don't have any outlet, or our current family home would probably be a schizo who'll change personality every so often.

So I'm thrilled when I got this chance to design this newlyweds' first pad. It's a starter home with 25 sqm space. Not a lot, but just enough to have all the basics plus a little more.

Here's the space...

That's about it. A simple studio space that lacks any sort of personality, color, and most importantly, storage. Client's request: Fun colors, but soothing / green walls, with colorful accessories. And here's the plan...

A double bed with underneath drawers will be placed at the corner niche (see first pic). It will be accented with wallpapers in all three walls. A huge closet beside the bed to separate the living and sleeping area. Pale green walls through out. We'll be adding blue, pink, and grey accessories. A swing lamp will be installed on both sides of the closet for bed / sofa lighting.

The other side

The same wallpaper for the wall behind the TV wall (see second pic.) Huge mirror to the right of the TV. A lucite coffee table to lessen visual weight but still serves its function.

Colorful doen't really equal soothing, but I think by using paler color with just some bright accents is a great compromise to achieve both requests.

The construction of this space is in full swing. The space is taking shape by the minute and I can't be happier. It's a huge plus that my client is so nice. Well.. all of them are. I'm so lucky. (knock on wood)

  1. I think they are nice because they know how valuable you are (well, I'm sure they are naturally nice)! Can't wait to see the finished product!

  2. what program do you use for your mood board?

  3. @brite - haha... I think they are just naturally nice. I've heard some horror client stories and I'm so happy I don't have any of those. :)

    @trisha - photoshop :)

  4. Looks really nice!! :) Where do you get those wooden bar stools with cushion? Can you recommend suppliers? Thanks so much!

Thanks for dropping by. I'd love to hear what you think! :)
