I am not dreaming. This is for real. Food Stylist's Office is on the cover of Real Living October issue! How can I be so blessed? A few months into this decorating gig and I have my work featured in a magazine, and on the cover no less!

And using my two current favorite colors -turquoise and pink - as their cover accents? Hello? So meant to be. Hahaha. Pardon my weird enthusiasm, it's just that I've known for a month but I have to keep mum so this excitement is just overwhelming. It's so surreal, one minute I'm meeting with a potential client assessing the space, the next minute its gracing a magazine. Fine, I'll shut up and stop my giddily blabber.

Just go grab a copy of Real Living's October issue, I know I will!

This day is off to a good start. Design*Sponge featured one of my project- the Food Stylist's Office. This is the very first time I've seen these professionally taken photos, and here's my favorite...

Those magazine covers up on the wall describe this shot real well... yummy yummy yummy I've got love in my tummy! Haha...

I think the new photos are for another feature that will be coming out very soon, and I'll share it with you once it's out. I'm so excited, and I can't hide it! Okay that's too much lyrics reference in one short post.

You'll see how lame of a blogger I am by this post. Last Aug 29, Beepinkaholic (from twitter) had a very simple request..

"can you please please feature a room that has pink as the main color? but not a nursery?"

Of course I said yes. I'm a sucker for pink.

About a month later, here I am doing the post. ONE WHOLE MONTH. What have I been doing? And only 5 post up by this time of the month is so pathetic. So here I'm doubling this Pink room post as sort of a pinky promise to all that I'll get this blog moving. Okay? okay.

Lets get to pink. I love pink. I had a pink room, twice. So how do we carry our love of pink to some level of maturity in terms of decorating? Here's how...

Using pink doesn't necessarily mean you'll make the room look juvenile. Like all colors, it has different shades and tones that would look lovely in an adult's space. Just avoid bubblegummish or baby pinkish pinks, add tons of grown-up furniture and accessories, and you're good to go.

To all pink lovers out there, pink room doesn't end at 13! It actually ends when you get hooked up. Unless your man is man enough to handle the color that depicts the essence girliness. Good luck with that!

I saw clips of their home via twitter and I asked him if he could send me some photos to share in the blog. I'm so glad he said yes. I really want to feature homes of fellow Filipinos, and hopefully, this is the first of many.

Welcome to their abode....

I love the clean white, with a punch of blue. Their choice of furniture is so streamlined and fresh.

They got this condominium unit really bare.  They configured this space and renovated it to suit the needs of a their budding family.

"Our inspiration was Santorini - white, Greek flag blue, and ocean artifacts. We've never been there, but that's exactly the drawing point. We wanted our home to feel like an escape from the outside world. It was a place to feel safe, inspired, and cozy." -Jar

And I really do think it's inspiring! This is a perfect example of designing a room around an artwork. The feel of this space, the colors, and the elements are taken from the painting. It really is the starting point for all that beachy vibe.

Of course it will only be fab if done right. Gone are the days when your drapes, beddings, pillows, and all sorts of pattern-related pieces should match. It was pretty THEN. I guess? I'm staring at the above photo and wondering when really was this look in-style. And now I'm wondering if the rooms we consider pretty today (think Lonny, Elle Decor) will be conceived as ugly someday. I can't imagine.

Anyway.... let's get to the point. Pretty patterned draperies.

Be inspired by your favorite fabric and design the room around it. In this space, you can see the colors on the curtains all around the room.

Add a punch of fun print to a very formal space. 

This is a great example of how to combine lots of patterns. This room got plenty -drapes, headboard, foot stools, pillows, rugs, walls - and yet it works beautifully.

Get a color from your drapes and paint an accent furniture in it.

Here's a beautiful way on how to do kind of matchy-matchy. Drapes and the huge artworks really matches but still distinct in their own way. 

Get a color from your curtains and have your wall in that hue. It will look intentional.

Big bold pattern is great on huge windows. Wait... this is Elle decor, so will the future people cringe at the site of this? Yeah I can't let that go. 

So that's a post a half asleep person can manage to type. I hope I remember this in the morning. Oh wait, its morning already.. goodnight.

P.S.  I googled. Curtains are lighter, more casual, usually without lining. Draperies are formal, pleated with lining that mostly hang on a traverse rod. Another PS, to the owner of the room on the first photo... sorry. Now this is really goodnight.

I just need to share this space. This room speaks to me so loud, its inspiring. It's fun, quirky, and effortless. Turquoise and pink are two of my fave colors so its no wonder I'm loving this space so much. But what I like about this is its sense of humor. Yup, rooms can have that too! Those giant fork and knife curtain print, and that weird artwork tells me the owner doesn't take herself too seriously -a really great quality if you ask me.
