Woods are Pretty. Really.

After living my whole life with dark cherry varnished wood as a foyer table, dining set, china cabinet, and other dark brownish stuff, I kinda sworn off wood. I just wanted to lighten things up and use bright bright bright! (if you dare, see our house before photos here)

But, yes there's a big BUT, (I've got big but and I can not lie.. haha..)  recently, I'm really drawn to wooden stuff. Not those varnished glossy ones, but the reclaimed rustic look. They are just pretty. It's warm, it adds texture, it's interesting.

The different tones in this wall are amazing.

I'm a convert. I love them. I want them. If there's one thing I learned, don't generalized things. I hated the glossy dark varnished furniture we had, and thought all wooden stuff are awful. These photos proved me wrong. Soo wrong.

    Beautiful photos! I'm so glad you re-considered wood :) There's only one American wood (walnut) that really has a dark color, so most of the dark woods you see are stained. It's when you go back to the natural look of it that you find wood's real beauty. Thanks for the great ideas!

    Amazing images! Chandeliers are a great addition to any home and can instantly turn a plain room into a room of luxury.
