I was supposed to share a new project I've been doing but my sleepiness is harassing my brain right now, and I can't manage to write anything logical about it. Instead, I'll share this awesome space. Lots of pattern going on in here, and I'm loving it. My jaw dropped when I saw this room and it deserves a spot in this lil blog of mine. Here's how you mix patterns, colors, and a lot of stuff, and still manage to achieve a very post-worthy room.

Hmmm.. maybe this sleepiness of mine just gave birth to a new section on this website. =D
Zzzzzzz......
This home office is so busy and overflowing with stuff, yet it has some sense of peace and coziness. It feels like a very private cocoon where ideas are born! This could have been the office of Albert Einstein or those smart guys from old times. Haha.. Loving all the vintage item with those shiny lamps. And yes, I'm wondering about the shoes too.
I'm Elle Uy and I'm an addict. A TV series addict. I can go on for days watching episode after episode of any show that I started. I've watched Season 1-3 of Dexter in less than three days. I'm a fan of Greys Anatomy, Private Practice, How I Met Your Mother, True Blood, Modern Family, etc etc. For past shows, I love love Sex and the City, and of course, Friends. I can go and on about Friends. I've watched that show from Season 1-10, 3 times, and still counting! I always say that I'll be old and spend my days watching Friends. Haha! And yes, I'm a sucker for cheesy local shows as well.
Anyway, this supposedly design related post is now turning into weird fanatic blabber, so before it gets worse, I'll get to the point. One of the shows I'm following is Desperate Housewives. (too bad it's their last season already) When Renee Perry came into the picture, the first thing I noticed was her house. It's amazing. She's an interior decorator (in the show) so it better be. Wait, what am I talking about? I do that for a living too and our house, is well... no comment. Haha...
The other day, I was watching their latest episode and saw her house again. "I need to find photos of this house!" and search I did. Didn't see any photos but what I found is better -a video tour of the space. (sorry for the somewhat blurry photos, they are just screen shots from the vid)
The combination of all the bold colors are superb.
Deep plum wall and olive couch...
with rich turquoise draperies!
White accents everywhere that pops against the deep walls.
Turquoise and plum is yum. Haha
Charcoal stairs and the kitchen cabinetries has the same shade for a cohesive look.
Very lovely colors.
The yellow island top is really bold, which I love.
Injecting lots of whites balanced out the colorful space.
You see, watching TV does not only entertain me but gives me major inspiration as well. Yup, I'm making excuses there. But you got to agree, we can learn a thing or two about colors in Renee's make-believe house.
P.S. If you haven't seen the video tour, or you're not familiar with Desperate Housewives, that dude is not Renee.
:D
I'll never get tired of doing over old furniture -especially chairs. I think I'd like to collect old chairs and makeover them all! I already had a start with these shield-back chairs. Think of all the color-fabric combinations I could do with those! If I had the time, I want to buy as much old chairs I can, do them over, and sell them! All houses should have at least one fun accent chair. Would you buy from me?? :)
Anyway, for the House of Femme, we re-did a lot of chairs. Their dad has a vast collection of beautiful old stuff that just needed some tlc.

We have two of those that will sit at the end of the dining table.

This will be the chair for her bedroom's work area.

Four of these as dining chairs.

One for the bedroom....
and one for the living room...
I love them all but my favorite would be the last one. I'm just always drawn to yellow-gray combo.
P.S. Just thought of a tagline in case I'll be selling chairs... "Prettifying the world, one chair at a time"
HAHA.
Real Makeover time! Haha... Okay. So I've mentioned before that I did the Real Makeover for the December issue of Real Living, but I can't blog about it yet since its too soon for their release. But since Dec is fast approaching, it's about time I share with you tidbits of the makeover.
It all started when I opened my email and saw this:
"Oh my Real Living emailed me!! and they wanted me to do a makeover!! Somebody pinch me!" -that is my reaction to their email. I didn't say it out loud but I was looking all crazy with a permanent smile all day.
I replied back with a big YES, OF COURSE. If I could just use a giant font and not be annoying I would do that to express my excitement. haha...
So I met with Kath and the home owners at their soon-to-be renovated home. Discussed the detailed and took some before pictures.
The bathroom: Need to fix this too.
Cramped living room. We're removing many unused stuff to have more floor space.
Sink area that I'm turning into a media unit
The other side of the divider.
The plan is to make a mini-studio type place for Nanay and Tatay (the homeowners). A space where they can relax, entertain, dine, and sleep.
Here's a quick moodboard I whip up. Since this is not your typical client-decorator set up, I'm not required to present anything. But I did it anyway. Haha.. Though I didn't show it to the homeowners to have some element of surprise.
We re-used many of their stuff, watch out for the chic yellow chair, and the green aparador. I feel truly blessed to have done this makeover. Progress story up next.
The title pretty much sums up this post - chandeliers in the kitchen. Most of us put lighting fixtures above the dining table, or in the living room, but it wouldn't hurt to have something sooo pretty light you up while cooking meals too.

Told you, they are pretty! Well, you can put chandeliers pretty much anywhere in your house and it will amped up that space instantly. I think my future house will suffer from chandelier overload someday. :)
Since I already admitted to the un-real-time post, here's the actual stat on the bedroom for this project. I told you it's almost done. Just a few cleaning up, pillows and bedding, drapes, accessories, and we are done! Woohoo! (see moodboard here)
The workspace
The stand-alone storage cabinet with mirror front
TV space on the left, and vanity on the right
Very tall turquoise tufted headboard with yellow lamp.
I'm overjoyed with how this house is turning out. Seriously can't wait to finalized everything and share it with you. And I do hope that you, my very dear readers, is enjoying these snippets of the process involved in all these pretty (and unpretty) chaotic makeover phase. :)
Who among you here have old chairs that you couldn't wait to get rid of? Well this family got plenty of them. My client told me that she swore not to see all those chairs once they moved! Guess what? She's seeing more of them now. But of course this time, "hate" wouldn't be the first thing she'll think of.
Here's a piano bench that's headed to the trash. They even used it as construction stool. (read: patungan ng pintura at kalat.. haha)

This wil go to one bonus room I'm doing for the house. I'll share it once it's done. So loving the fabric, I bought the fabric even before showing it to the client 'coz I don't mind having it in case they didn't like it. Turns out they love it as much I do. :)

For the den. Black and white is great. Stripes is great. Black and white PLUS stripes is amazing! haha... Sorry for the plastic wrap thing, didn't want to remove it yet since there's still construction going on.
So the next time you see some un-pretty chairs lying around, don't hate it just yet. :)
The colors on this space are so pale and relaxing that it even made that very huge manly desk looks soft and sweet. Heck, it even made me want one of those desk. Look at the storage and work space on that thing! That inspiration wall is dreamy as well- very vintage chic.
I know I've used the word excited a lot, and I'm running out of words to replace it. I should brush up on my thesaurus. Googling now......
I'm super excited thrilled / titillated / galvanized?? with this renovation. AS IN. For the simple reason that this can be my dream bedroom . I love it! The client and I share a very similar taste so it's safe to say that I'm jealous of this soon-to-be colorful French-ish room.
Here's the space when I first met the client...
Bare and ready to roll.
The Moodboard(s)
Turquoise / yellow / gold / cream / white are the colors we're using.
An extra-high tufted headboard for a very luxe but casual feel.
Pop of yellow chair, some gold ornate mirror, and plenty of make-up storage!
One wall dedicated to work. A future HO of the day. :)
Told you, this is the causal sister of the more formal living/dining room of the House of Femme. Same French, ornate feel, but with a totally different vibe.
