DIY frame gallery attempt #1: My Bedroom
1/02/2011 11:38:00 AM
I sooo love the frame gallery look which I'm sure I already implied here. So it's no surprise that I'll be replicating this look on three separate spaces in our house: big wall in the living room, the hallway, and my bedroom.
The first of them is my bedroom because it's mine! Ha! Kidding! (or maybe just half-kidding) My bedroom is one of the first rooms to finish renovation -we work from upstairs down- and it's so much easier to decide on my own without consulting everyone!
"Could you please just choose already which pictures you want to display??" -me to everybody
So here's a little mathematical illustration of what went down:
Mis-matched frames
+
excess paint from other DIY projects
+
an attempt to be more organized (hence, the newspaper cut-outs)
=
my own version of wall of frame (+ memo board).
I've chosen the three colors -pink, teal, and gold- based on the hues from my curtain. Though funny thing is, I'd probably change the curtain (which you can see a glimpse here) sooner than I thought just because I'm not in love with it. (but promised myself to sell them first somehow before buying a new one, lets see.)
Please don't mind that dirty marker board, I haven't gotten around to change the mat yet. This was submerged when we were flooded and the nails are hard to pull out! (think rusty nail x 50). This thing was previously some sort of framing device to cover an unsightly glass window above our window (don't try to visualize it, its weird. I'll just show you soon). We've got three of this, the other two will go in a different DIY form somewhere in the living room.
Another thing not to mind: the empty frame. No, not those intentionally empty ones of course, the gold one with white mat. I still have no idea what to put in there. The other gold one is my parents old picture, the teal frame has the rose made of tissue Mr Bf gave me six years ago on our first date. (It looks like a rose before! But six years in a box made it look like that. We joke around that I'm framing a giant sperm replica! :D )
and that's a peek of my things to do this January.
I'm so looking forward to checking that boxes already!

I love your frame wall. The colors are great!
ReplyDeleteI love gallery frames too! My first was done in my girls' room, then I put a twist on it in the living room. I want to do another over my dining table. I don't have a large empty wall in our bedroom but have thought about doing a smaller one in there.
ReplyDeleteYour gallery looks great. And I love that there's a list included.
I laughed when you mentioned asking what picture everyone would like to display, that thought has never crossed my mind while decorating lol.
Love it!! I'm in the middle of making my own frame wall too :)
ReplyDeleteI'm painting all my frames white, and seeing yours in fab colours is almost making me change my mind....
