Love it or Hate it: Mirrored wall

We all know that adding mirrors gives the illusion of more space, and it bounces light too. But how big can you go?

Can you handle a floor to ceiling, wall to wall mirror?

It doubles the space..

But it also doubles the clutter. (Especially for the not so orderly like me!)
These rooms are all gorgeous, but in real (with work, family, kids, husband/boyfriend, and pets!) life, do you prefer to reflect much light and space? or do you cringe at the thought of seeing yourself all the time and dread maintaining a spotless humongous mirror?

Love it for other people. I can,t imagine trying to keep one clean with a family of 6! It would probably only look nice when we were having company!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of it! But it's true, it's hard to maintain. I think in the right space I could definitely manage one :)
ReplyDeleteReally like the look, but I have 3 little boys with feral sticky hands and can only imagine the mess. Still, I can dream...
ReplyDeletelove it! but i think i'm addicted to mirrors..i love how they bounce light and the reflections often become instant art!
ReplyDeleteI like how it looks in the pics of the bedrooms, not quite as much in the other spaces. I cannot imagine having to clean them though!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the fifth picture down, but that's partly because of the rug and other furnishings. I'm not sure our mess needs magnification though ;)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely hate it. The only time I want to be in front of a mirror, is when I absolutely have to be :) And trying to keep it spotless would be awful!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the look much, unless a space is well-designed it can look dated and 80s. I prefer the look of my walls, filled with art I've collected and relics I love. Also, I try hard to never introduce home elements that would require lots of cleaning!
ReplyDeleteI remember my mom decorating our small condo with a mirrored wall to give it the illusion of more space. That was in the late 70s! I'm on the fence about seeing this make its way back!
ReplyDeletelove the looks of it. would put it somewhere different then the living room because it is the most used room. to much of a glare and finger prints!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the input everyone! As for me, I still don't know how I feel about this. Definitely love/hate relationship! Hence this post. :) I guess I would settle with a massive framed mirror!
ReplyDeleteHi, I followed your link from Van's blog. What an amazing blog you have here! I envy people like you with so much creativity in their veins. I'm so clueless when it comes decorating. I'm definitely coming back here.
ReplyDeleteAww thank you so much.. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have a mirrored wall in our home, in the living room, and it covers one entire wall - floor to ceiling. It makes the room look bigger and we love it.
ReplyDeleteMy bedroom has two large closets that cover almost an entire wall with mirrors for doors. I wasn't sure about it when I first moved in, but I've decided that I quite like it. But you are absolutely right that the true value of it is only realized when I keep the room tidy and fix my bed, which by some act of God I have actually been maintaining for a while now.
ReplyDeleteI have a mirrored wall and I LOVE it! I just had it installed a few months ago- it really makes our little kitchen nook seem MUCH larger!
ReplyDeleteCheck it out!

I'd love to put a mirrored wall coz the house that I'm currently eyeing isn't that big so I need mirrored walls to make it look bigger...
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by. I'd love to hear what you think! :)
