Sweet yellow entry is finally done
1/18/2011 04:37:00 AMAnother thing off my check list. Thank you very much.
I intentionally made this table 'paint central' for a moment to make sure I'll refinish it! Those drips are nasty. |
This is the mister of our yellowfied ornate mirror, and what do I do with it? Of course turn it yellow as well! You know, like how all husbands follow their wives around. (I'm pretty sure majority of my readers are female, so no ones disagreeing? RIGHT?!)
I left the top part at first, still undecided on whether I'd paint it yellow, or leave it as stained wood. But for the love of all things good I can not strip it right! Yellow it is. Thank you table top for making the decision easier for me.
That is how our entry looks like these past couple of days. I've started the primer three days before, and kinda stalled.
I have some real life to live too. <-- my sorry excuse for stalling on projects.
But now it's finally done! I can't be more thrilled. I'm pretty sure my family is even more thrilled not tripping over paint cans!
Again, Mister and Misses before
and after.
Now if someone can just tell me what to put here? Vase? Lamp? Nothing too fancy or small little things! Just three or four big pieces and I'm fine. I tell you, if I leave it bare and unattended, the mister table will be messy and crappy in no time. Just like the husbands. (okay I've taken it too far, don't hate me)

This set looks gorgeous in its new primary yellow paint color! Is this set in the entryway? A dish for keys set on top might be practical. Maybe you should make a point of keeping the surface clear as a decluttering experiment :) I really think it looks nice as it is. Look around the house for a favorite item to place on top if you can't think of something to add to it.
ReplyDeleteI think a clock and a place for keys would be a great touch to this. Also, some fresh flowers!!

Lovely! What a fantastic & cheery update =)
ReplyDeleteI think it looks awesome. I would maybe put a modern lamp or something simple on it. Great job and the yellow is perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! :) We'll be putting our keys some place else, so I need to have other items here. Just minimal clean looking ones. I'll show you whatever I come up with.
ReplyDeleteThat turned out beautifully! I love the curves of the table- LOVELY!
ReplyDeleteit looks awesome! love it. and the stripes are great too.
ReplyDeleteElle, that is flat out STUNNING! WOW! Simply stunning.
ReplyDeleteit looks amazing!!! love it! definately a lamp and maybe a vase or something? I gave you an award today on my blog!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone! and thanks Rhiannon for the award.. :) I'll post something about it soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible transformation!! I absolutely love the yellow! I need more yellow in my life!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely!! I need to be more daring and paint some of my furniture. I'd put a lamp, something simple in shape with a barrel lampshade, a favorite framed picture and a vase of flowers.
ReplyDeleteand the floor? did you paint tiles? - it all looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! For now, it sits empty until the rest of the space is done. :)
ReplyDeleteThe floor is actually the original flooring the house came in. Probably 40+ years old? We're quite tired of this look and want a plain solid one, but it seems some people find it quite attractive! Ha, maybe we're just so used to it. :)
I love the set! It's like some Victorian/Mexican fusion.. May I know what paint you used?
ReplyDeleteIt's better to buy old furnitures because making the decision of painting them is easier..
what type of paint did you use? i would so love to paint our narra furniture in bright colors too.=)
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by. I'd love to hear what you think! :)
