Curtain options for my bedroom: Help me choose!
2/11/2011 01:29:00 AMThe makeover to my already made over bedroom begins.
And because I badly screwed up purchasing a curtain fabric that doesn't suit me, I'm not taking any chances this time. (and I need your help!)
Remember this?
I played with the image to give me some drapery options. Also added some of the stuff I bought: the secretary desk that I'll be painting a soft gray, a pair of lamp I'll be spray painting yellow, and the fabrics for pillow cases I bought just because they're pretty.
I'm also planning to paint one wall a deep charcoal color, I'm sure it will add so much drama to the room. And a huge plus that bright colors pop against dark walls, can't wait!
Anyway, here's the options, and I need you to vote for your favorite. Please. :)
Option 2: Bold stripe on bigger window / Simple accent trim on pelmet behind the bed
Option 3: Simple curtain same color as the wall on bigger window / Simple accent trim on pelmet behind the bed
Option 4: Simple curtain same color as the wall on bigger window / Stripe trim on curtain and pelmet behind the bed
Option 5: White curtain with black trims on bigger window / Dramatic black pelmet and curtain behind the bed
Option 6: White curtain with black trims on bigger window / Simple accent trim on pelmet behind the bed
It's quite obvious that I'm going with some black and white contrast here, I just love how clean and graphic it is. I'm going for different treatments on the 2 windows but still want them to be cohesive (I just want a pelmet / curtain to frame the bed). I know they all have the same feel, but what's your favorite? Help me choose! :) and feel free to leave your suggestions (maybe I can mix and match?) on the comment section.
UPDATE: The winning look doesn't come from any of these, sorry! Check out the story here.

I LOVE the bold stripe for the bigger window! And I think I like a little bit of stripe on the other window. But for sure the bold stripe on the big one!
ReplyDeleteI voted for option 5, but I'd say option 1 is my 2nd pick!
ReplyDeleteI voted for option number one! I love stripes!
ReplyDeleteI think you have your winner, judging by the votes! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for input ladies. Shaunhcy, I just had this post up for 3 hours, let's wait and see. :)
ReplyDeleteI like option 1 but maybe with the white curtains and black trim on the bigger window. I would even say to put up the same curtains. I'm a simple and matchy-matchy type person. But I also have a hard time seeing the whole picture before it's all together! Trust your instincts! You always do a great job! (Just don't get distracted again! Ha!)
ReplyDeleteI'm between options 1 and 4... definitely stipes behind the bed, but not sure if the other curtains look best with stripes or same colour as the wall... maybe both? Curtains the colour of the walls, and striped pieces at the sides (not sure what they are called, I heard somewhere the name is "bandeaux", but not sure about that)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your room re-renovation!
Argh I was stuck between 1 and 2!! And ended up picking 2 haha~ Looks like 1 is a winner XD
ReplyDeleteI like 1 and 6...but 1 seems a lot more fun. The last option seems quieter, so I guess it depends on what you are going for. :)
ReplyDeleteI am confused by the "bold stripe" in options 1 and 5. It seems out of proportion to me. I think the stripes placed there are distracting and break up the flow of the room.
ReplyDeleteI love option 5. If you really want to have a dramatic accent wall, shouldn't all the drama be kept to.. that wall? That's why I like option 5. The black pelmet and curtain look fantastic with the dark wall. I also love the white curtain with black trim. I think it's very classy and an excellent back drop to your accessories.
Absolutely NOT 5 or 6. That curtain on the left looks like a shower curtain. Not cute for a bedroom.
ReplyDeleteThe left-side curtain on 3 & 4 is far too plain... not much visual interest at all.
So, between 1 & 2, I say 2. The curtains on both sides feels very heavy... whereas the fun, modern curtain on the left coupled with the black trim on the right works nicely together as well as not feeling overwhelming.
Thank you all so much for the input! Much much appreciated.. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by. I'd love to hear what you think! :)
